Properties available under Choice Based Letting

Initially only a small number of properties will be advertised as part of the rollout and over the coming months the scheme will be extended to include the majority of our vacant properties.

Specially adapted properties and those designated for senior citizens will not be advertised via Choice Based Letting.

Who can access Choice based Letting System

All approved housing applicants, including transfer applicants and HAP tenants, can express an interest in CBL properties.

When are properties advertised?

We will advertise available Choice Based Letting properties on a weekly basis each Wednesday morning at midnight. They will remain advertised until midnight the following Tuesday night. Housing applicants should try to log in every week to check the dwellings that are available that week and those wishing to place an expression of interest, must to do so before midnight on Tuesday. A ‘suitable’ property is one that you have chosen to express an interest in and that matches your housing needs.

Please note that only households that have expressed an interest in a dwelling under Choice Based Letting whose household composition suits the property type will be considered initially. e.g. if you are approved for a three bedroom unit and you express an interest in a four bedroom unit then you may not be considered. Applicants may express an interest in properties outside of their specified areas of preference. However, where there are a large number of expressions of interest in a property we may only consider expressions from those who have specified a preference for accommodation in that area. Applicants should log in every week to check whether you wish to express an interest in the properties advertised in that week.

Accessing Choice Based Letting website

The website for viewing properties is https://cbl.clarecoco.ie

Usernames and passwords are issued in the post to all eligible applicants. If you don't have access to the internet, Clare County Council libraries have public access PCs which can be used. You will need to provide photo ID if you are not a member of the library.

Updating your application details

If your details are incorrect or out of date, please complete the attached Social Housing Needs Assessment Update Form and submit to the Housing Department of Clare County Council
