Clare Alerts - sign up to receive alerts with our free alert service

Welcome to Clare Alerts - Clare County Council's free alert service for people living and working in County Clare. This service gives you quick information for specific events that may affect you. This may include day-to-day events such as road works or other isolated events such as severe weather emergencies.
MapAlerter

You can easily subscribe to get alerts from Clare County Council using Clare Alerts. You can receive alerts by SMS Text Alert, email and also through various chat apps such as Facebook Messenger through the MapAlerter service. There is no charge to create an account and there are no costs to receive alerts through any channel, including the SMS text messages.

When you register you must provide your mobile number and email address so that Clare Alerts can deliver alerts to you. We issue alerts across a number of Council categories and you can subscribe to some or all of these categories. We currently offer these categories:

  • Road works & diversion information
  • Planning application alerts
  • Severe weather alerts via Met Éireann
  • Flood alerts
  • Community notices

Clare Alerts delivers relevant alerts for you based on the locations you specify. We map each alert before we send it so it will only be delivered to you if you are in an affected area. When you register for Clare Alerts you must identify a mapped location (using an easy to use interface) so that we can send accurate alerts to you.

Registration is quick and easy. Once your account is created you can sit back and wait, knowing that we will only contact you when an alert is relevant to you.

How it works

When you register for Clare Alerts you can identify both your Home and Work locations.  You will only receive relevant alerts related to your location(s) rather than alerts for all over the county. For example if you live in Kilmihil and work in Ennis, then you may receive alerts for both locations or for areas on the direct route between these two locations. However, you will only receive alerts for the categories you have registered for (e.g. water alerts).

You can register here. You must provide your mobile number and email address so that we can deliver alerts to you. You also have the option of adding a landline number. We plan to use this phone number to issue recorded voice messaging alerts in the future.

Once you create your account you can always change your settings. You can unsubscribe for various alerts or change your preferences using the Edit your account page at any time. Similarly if you change your home or work location then you can update your location using our interactive maps on the Update home location or Update work location page.

This is a free service which is provided by Clare County Council using MapAlerter technology. There are no registration costs and no charges to receive SMS or Emails. The information you provide will only be used in order to send your chosen alerts to you.

We look forward to sending you alerts on Clare Alerts.

Previous text alert system

This new MapAlerter alert service provides improved features and replaces the previous SMS alert service which we operated until the end of 2019.  For data protection reasons and so that you can set your preferences to suit you, you need to register with the new Clare Alerts system to receive alerts.
