Putting North Clare in the shop window for Irish Open

11 June 2019

Dubai Duty Free, the title sponsor of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open (4-7th July), in partnership with Clare County Council and Fáilte Ireland is inviting traders and community organisations around Lahinch, Inagh, Miltown Malbay, Liscannor and Spanish Point to enter a Best Dressed Window Competition.

A total prize fund of €3,000 has been put in place by Dubai Duty Free for the top three entrants. There are prizes available from 1st to 3rd place with the lucky winner taking home €1,500. The winner and a guest will also be treated to full corporate hospitality on one of the days during the tournament where they will enjoy breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and all the golfing action from the comfort of the title sponsor’s own private pavilion on the 18th green. Second place will win €1,000 and third will take home €500.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Best Dressed Window Competition has been created in a bid to support and engage with the local communities and businesses in and around Lahinch and to help create a truly festive atmosphere surrounding this exciting tournament. An incredible 10 kilometres of bunting and hundreds of flags have been produced to aid contestants in their displays and complimentary starter packs may now be picked up from Clare County Council’s Civic Office in Ennis.

Pat Dowling, Chief Executive of Clare County Council, said, “With the arrival of tens of thousands of people to North Clare in early July it is important that we avail of the coming weeks to ensure that the area leaves a lasting, positive impression on all those who visit. This competition encourages property owners to play their part in improving the appearance of their properties and in doing so contribute to an enhanced streetscape in Lahinch, Inagh, Ennistymon, Liscannor, Spanish Point and Miltown Malbay.”

To enter the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Best Dressed Window Competition and to receive your complimentary starter pack, email tourism@clarecoco.ie or call Philomena O’Connell at Clare County Council on (065) 6846511.  All entrants will need to email at least one good quality photograph of their display to tourism@clarecoco.ie by Friday, 21st June 2019, (maximum email file size not to exceed 6MB).

Winners will be selected by a Dubai Duty Free representative who will be joined by a judge representing Clare County Council and Fáilte Ireland. The final judging will take place on Tuesday, 2rd July 2019.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open takes place from the 4th to the 7th of July at Lahinch Golf Club, Co. Clare.
