Social housing boost for Miltown Malbay

Clare County Council has announced the appointment of consultants for the design of a new social housing scheme at Ballard Road, Miltown Malbay.

The proposed 27-unit development with an estimated cost of €5,448,590 will be funded by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and is scheduled for completion in 2021 with construction expected to commence in spring 2020.

The proposed social housing scheme will comprise four-bed (2), three-bed (8) and two-bed specially adapted (1) units and two-bed apartments (16). The development is the first of its kind to be developed in Miltown Malbay since a 34-house scheme was delivered at Mullagh Road in the town 10 years ago.

The project design team, managed by the Social Development Directorate of Clare County Council, comprises Hassett Leyden Flynn (Architects), P. Coleman & Associates (Civil & Structural Engineers), Moloney Fox Consulting Engineers (Mechanical & Electrical Engineers) and Tom McNamara & Partners (Quantity Surveyors).
