In advance of the Public Realm project, Shareridge Engineering will be commencing works in Ennis town centre from May 16^th, 2022, and continuing on a phased basis until early September 2022.  These works are being carried out on behalf of Irish Water and will involve the replacement of aged watermains at High Street, Bank Place, O’Connell Square and O’Connell Street, to provide a more reliable water supply, reduce high levels of leakage and improve water quality.  Additionally, new electrical cabling infrastructure will be installed throughout the town centre at the same time.

Clare County Council intends to seek the approval of An Bord Pleanála for the proposed development to upgrade and provide for enhanced visitor experience facilities at Loop Head, Kilbaha.

In the lead up to the Easter bank holiday weekend, the Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland have issued a joint water safety appeal and are asking people to take some basic precautions to stay safe when they visit the coast or participate in water activities, be it coastal or inland. The organisations also extended a warm welcome to new residents and visitors to the island, many of whom may not be familiar with tides and Irish sea conditions and encourage them to seek local advice before engaging in any water or coastal activities. The potential negative long-term impact of the pandemic on the North Clare tourism sector must be countered with innovative and collaborative thinking, according to Clare County Council.

A delegation of key members of the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly led by Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlan travelled to County Clare on Sunday (10th April, 2022) on a visit aimed at strengthening ties between the US and Irish regions.

Fifty-eight (58) businesses from across North Clare have been awarded Certificates of Achievement for honouring their commitments under the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark Code of Practice for Sustainable Tourism for 2020/2021.

The Department of Public Health Mid-West and the HSE Environmental Health Service have launched a joint awareness campaign to encourage people to test and treat their private well water in order to reduce the risk of serious illness from drinking contaminated or poor quality water.

Clare County Council, in association with An Taisce, is urging people to spring into action and get involved in cleaning up the county as part of the annual National Spring Clean campaign.
