Community Environment Action Fund (Local Agenda 21)

Communities can apply through our Greener Clare programme for funding under the Community Environment Action Fund previously known as the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. This year due to COVID-19 this fund is due to be announced towards the end of the year by the Department of Communications, Climate Action, and Environment.

Eligible projects should support and complement national environmental policies however priority will be given to climate change and biodiversity projects this year. A wide variety of projects have been supported under the fund in previous years including community gardens, compost schemes, rainwater conservation schemes, educational initiatives and environmental exhibitions. Lists of previously funded projects can be viewed on the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment website.

The total fund available for County Clare in 2019 is €25,300 therefore Clare County Council welcomes small to medium size community project proposals from schools, tidy town groups, community development associations, youth groups or any group with an interest in completing an environment themed project or activity.
