National Tree Week
National Tree Week (Sun 21st March – Sat 27th March)
To celebrate National Tree Week the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte, with the support from Clare County Council, are making saplings available, for free, to voluntary community groups. Any interested group must undertake to plant saplings in a suitable public location, in their own community.
To express your interest in availing of saplings, groups should complete and return the following application form by 4:00 p.m. Friday 12th March 2021 to firstname.lastname@example.org
For more information or if you wish to receive a hard copy of the application form contact Elaine Whelan at email@example.com or telephone 065 6846331
This year there will be limited number of saplings available and that a priority ranking maybe implemented for award of the trees to groups. Saplings will be supplied on a first-come-first-served basis with preference given to community groups that have previously participated in National Tree Week. Applicants who demonstrate where planting will happen, and success of previous planted saplings/trees will be ranked higher.
The final number of saplings available to each group will be based on overall demand.
Groups will be notified in advance of National Tree Week if they have been allocated saplings. The timing of distribution/collection of these trees to allocated groups is yet to be decided and is very much dependent on public health restrictions in place during National Tree Week. Groups will need to have a suitable means of transport for collecting saplings from the Clare County Council Gardening Section, Gort Rd., Ennis, Co. Clare, when the collection date is decided.
Please follow all the government guidelines in respect of Covid-19 especially in respect of group activities.
