Certificates for heritage course participants in Scariff

Deputy Mayor of Clare, Councillor Pat Burke, last evening (Tuesday) presented certificates to participants of a heritage course delivered in Scariff FET Centre.

The course was a joint initiative between Clare County Council, Clare Museum and the Limerick & Clare Education & Training Board (LCETB) and was delivered by Heritage Consultant, Zena Hoctor.

The practical course, entitled ‘Reading Your Local Landscape', included an introduction to geology, biodiversity, archaeology and natural heritage enabling participants to identify, examine and record  heritage features of the Scariff, Tuamgraney, Broadford and Mountshannon areas through a combination of fieldwork and desk research.   

The ‘Reading Your Local Landscape’ initiative also marks 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage and was hosted as part of Clare Culture & Creativity Strategy 2018-2022 and the Clare Heritage Plan 2017-2023.
