Public consultation on Shannon IRBD - Draft River Basin Management Plan

21 May 2009

Concerned about water? A new approach is being taken to managing and protecting our natural waters (rivers, lakes, estuarine, coastal and ground waters). This has resulted in the island of Ireland being divided into eight river basin districts. Draft management plans have now been prepared for each of these River Basin Districts which set out a roadmap as to how the status of our natural waters will be protected and restored where necessary. Public information events on the draft plan for the Shannon IRBD are being held at the following venues:

  • 28th April: Ennis - County Hall, Clare County Council, New Road
  • 5th May: Limerick - County Hall, Limerick County Council, Dooradoyle
  • 6th May: Athlone - Sheraton Hotel, Athlone Town Centre
  • 7th May: Carrick on Shannon - Bush Hotel

Why not drop in and find out what is proposed to manage the waters in your area and how it might affect you. Each event will run from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. You can find out more on and or phone (061) 337914.
