Application by Clare County Council for several waste water discharge licences

Corrofin Wastewater Treatment Plant

The applicant, Clare County Council, New Road, Ennis, County Clare, intends applying to the Environmental Protection Agency for a wastewater discharge licence under the above named regulation.

The wastewater treatment plant associated with the application, Corrofin Wastewater Treatment Plant, is located at Corrofin, in the Townland of Ballykinncorra North, Corrofin, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the wastewater treatment plant is E128820; N188545;

The Corrofin Wastewater Treatment Plant comprises of Preliminary screening, Imhoff Tank and Drying Beds. The final effluent from the domestic wastewater treatment plants discharges via an outfall pipe from the wastewater treatment facility to the adjacent River Fergus. The National Grid Reference for the Primary Discharge Point at the end of the outfall pipe is E128874; N188574.

A secondary emergency discharge may also take place from the stormwater overflow pipe located on the collection system at Corrofin Bridge in the Townland of Baunkyle, Corrofin, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the secondary discharge is E128610; N188594.

A copy of the application for the waste water discharge licence and such further information relating to the application as may be furnished to the Agency in the course of the Agency’s consideration of the application, in such a format as may be determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, shall, as soon as is practicable after receipt by the Agency, be available for inspection or purchase at the headquarters of the Agency and at the principal office of Clare County Council, the relevant water services authority for this application.

Crusheen Wastewater Treatment Plant

The applicant, Clare County Council, New Road, Ennis, County Clare, intends applying to the Environmental Protection Agency for a wastewater discharge licence under the above named regulation.

The wastewater treatment plant associated with the application, Crusheen Wastewater Treatment Plant, is located at Crusheen, in the Townland of Crusheen, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the wastewater treatment plant is E139971; N187741.

The Crusheen Wastewater Treatment Plant comprises preliminary screening, activated sludge treatment, clarifier tank, sludge holding tank with the sludge disposal off site. The final effluent from the domestic wastewater treatment plant discharges to a local stream located to the east of the wastewater treatment plant. The National Grid Reference for the Primary Discharge Point is E139997; N187757.

Secondary emergency discharge may also take place from the stormwater overflow pipe at the inlet sump in the Townland of Crusheen, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the secondary discharge is E139998; N187732.

A copy of the application for the waste water discharge licence and such further information relating to the application as may be furnished to the Agency in the course of the Agency’s consideration of the application, in such a format as may be determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, shall, as soon as is practicable after receipt by the Agency, be available for inspection or purchase at the headquarters of the Agency and at the principal office of Clare County Council, the relevant water services authority for this application.

Inagh Waste Water Treatment Plant

The applicant, Clare County Council, New Road, Ennis, County Clare, intends applying to the Environmental Protection Agency for a wastewater discharge licence under the above named regulation.

The wastewater treatment plant associated with the application, Inagh Waste Water Treatment Plant, is located in the Townland of Carrowkeel West, Inagh, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the wastewater treatment plant is E120626; N181501.

The Inagh Waste Water Treatment process comprises preliminary screening, activated sludge treatment, clarifier, sludge thickening and sludge dewatering with the sludge disposal off site. The final effluent from the wastewater treatment plant discharges via an outfall pipe from the wastewater treatment facility to the River Inagh, adjacent to the treatment plant. The National Grid Reference for the Primary Discharge Point at the end of the outfall pipe is E120649; N181503.

Secondary emergency discharges may also take place from the stormwater overflow pipe located on the collection system at the Church Yard pumping station in the Townland of Carrowkeel West, Inagh, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the secondary discharge is E120834; N181287.

Kilkishen Wastewater Treatment Plant

The applicant, Clare County Council, New Road, Ennis, County Clare, intends applying to the Environmental Protection Agency for a wastewater discharge licence under the above named regulation.

The wastewater treatment plant associated with the application, Kilkishen Wastewater Treatment Plant, is located at Kilkishen, in the Townland of Clonlea, Kilkishen County Clare. The National Grid reference for the wastewater treatment plant is E150352; N172988.

The Kilkishen Wastewater Treatment process comprises of preliminary screening, activated sludge treatment, clarifier, sludge thickening, sludge dewatering with sludge disposal off site and phosphate removal. The final effluent from the domestic wastewater treatment plants discharges via an outfall pipe from the waste water treatment facility to Clonlea Lough. The National Grid Reference for the Primary Discharge Point at the end of the outfall pipe is E150433; N172834.

Secondary emergency discharges may also take place from the following:

  1. The stormwater overflow pipe located on the collection system at Dun an Oir pumping station in the Townland of Clonlea, Kilkishen, County Clare. The National Grid Reference for this Secondary Discharge Point at the end of the outfall pipe is E150042; N1728240 and at
  2. The stormwater overflow pipe located on the collection system at Plunkett Drive pumping station in the Townland of Clonlea, Kilkishen, County Clare. The National Grid Reference for this Secondary Discharge Point at the end of the outfall pipe is E149221; N173147.

Liscannor Holding Tank

The applicant, Clare County Council, New Road, Ennis, County Clare, intends applying to the Environmental Protection Agency for a wastewater discharge licence under the above named regulation.

The wastewater treatment system associated with the application, Liscannor Holding Tank, is located at Liscannor, in the Townland of Liscannor, County Clare. The National Grid reference for the holding tank is E106736; N188284;

The Liscannor Wastewater Treatment System comprises of a holding tank. The final effluent discharges to Liscannor Bay via an outfall pipe from the sewerage holding tank. The National Grid Reference for the Primary Discharge Point at the end of the outfall pipe is E106833; N188151;
