Parking in County Clare

Pay and display parking applies in:

  • Ennis in all the car parks and also for on-street parking, Monday to Saturday, all year round, except for Bank Holidays.
  • Lahinch at the Promenade and Liscannor Road carparks, 7 days a week, all year round.
  • Kilkee at the East End car park during the summer months - May to September - inclusive.
  • Sixmilebridge in the Sixmilebridge Rail Station, Cappalodge car park.
  • Kilrush in Henry Street, Frances Street, Lower Frances Street, Market Square, Burton Street, Vandeleur Street, Moore Street, John Street, Monday to Saturday, all year round, except for Bank Holidays.
  • Doolin Pier Car Park

Parking regulations, such as 2-hour parking, half-hour parking, loading bays, bus bays, disabled bay parking and double-yellow lines apply in the towns of Ennistymon, Lahinch and Miltown Malbay.

Ennis

Notice of revised car parking rates in Ennis from June 2017 to December 2017

A unit price of €1 for car parking has been implemented on a trial basis for the above period. 

The purpose of the change is to deliver a greater turnover and availability of spaces within the town centre area while at the same time offering value for money parking in e.g. Abbey Street car park, of two hours parking for €2.00 (maximum of 3 hours stay).

A minimum of €1 will apply to all car parks as opposed to €1.30.

The minimum fee on all on-street parking machines is 50 cent.

On-street car parking at O'Connell Street/Upper O'Connell Street, High Street, Barrack Street and Bank Place has changed to €1.00 for 30 minutes duration.

All Pay and Display machines have been updated with the revised tariffs.


Pay and Display operates in all the car parks and also for on-street parking, Monday to Saturday, all year round, except for Bank Holidays. A ticket can be purchased from the pay and display machines. The purchased ticket must then be displayed visibly on the vehicle dashboard.

€1.30 entitles you to either 1, 2 or 4 hours on-street parking depending on the zone. All car parks are €1.30 per hour. (With exception of long stay car parks at Cloughleigh, €2.60 for 8 hours and Glór, €3.90 for 8 hours)

Parking bye-laws

The bye-laws are intended to help the motorist by:

  • Eliminating obstruction and reducing congestion
  • Improving road safety
  • Increasing the turnover of on street parking spaces

The bye-laws are prepared by the traffic management section for consideration and adoption by the elected members of Clare County Council. Clare County Council employs traffic wardens to implement the above bye-laws.

Pay by phone parking

Pay by phone parking is also available in Ennis and Doolin Pier. The system allows motorists to pay for their parking using their mobile phone. It is a more efficient, flexible and most importantly convenient way to pay for parking.

Kilkee

Pay and Display operates in the East End Car Park, Kilkee, where a ticket can be purchased from the pay and display machines. The purchased ticket must then be displayed visibly on the vehicle dashboard. Tickets are required between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. each day during the summer months.

A €1.00 parking ticket entitles you to 3 hours parking. A €2.50 ticket entitles you to up to 10 hours parking.

Lahinch

Pay and Display operates in the promenade car park and the Liscannor Road car park, where a ticket can be purchased from the pay and display machines. The purchased ticket must then be displayed visibly on the vehicle dashboard. Tickets are required 7 days a week all year round -  during the period 9:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m.

A €2.00 parking ticket entitles you to 3 hours parking. A €4.00 ticket entitles you to up to 10 hours parking.

Sixmilebridge

Pay and Display operates in the Sixmilebridge Rail Station, Cappalodge car park, where a ticket can be purchased from the pay and display machines. The purchased ticket must then be displayed visibly on the vehicle dashboard. 

A €2.00 parking ticket entitles you to up to 24 hours parking from the time of issue of the ticket. An €8.00 ticket entitles you to up to 7 days parking from the time of issue of the ticket..

Kilrush

Two-hour free parking is available in Kilrush and also car parks continue to be free all day. 

Pay and Display operates in Kilrush, where a ticket can be purchased from the pay and display machines or parking discs may also be purchased from the municipal district office or various local businesses. Tickets are required between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

A €2.00 parking ticket entitles you to 2 hours parking. The first 30 minutes is free of charge.

Doolin Pier

Pay and Display operates at Doolin Pier where a ticket can be purchased from the pay and display machines or parking can be paid for by using the app "Parkmagic" on your mobile phone.

The tariff for the car park:

  • €1 <= 2 hours
  • €5 > 2 hours < 30 hours
  • €15 >= 30 hours < 1 week

A further charge of €10 shall apply to each week or part of a week.

Customers can also pre-pay for parking at their nearest council office.
