Callout for Clare Culture Night events
Date issued: 24/07/17
Clare Culture Night has been confirmed for Friday 22 September this year when arts and cultural bodies throughout the county throw open their doors to the public for free.
Organised by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in partnership with the Clare County Council Arts Office and cultural organisations throughout Clare, the annual initiative encourages the public to get involved in cultural activities.
In Clare over the past ten years, Clare Culture Night has captured both the public imagination and the enthusiasm of artists and cultural organizations. Last year saw an eclectic mix of events including entertainment by Music Generation Clare in Shannon, a Poetry Trail in Ennis and a Riches of Clare concert in Corofin.
An Tara performed in Tuamgraney and Coda were in concert in Kilkishen. In Feakle, there were fireside stories as part of the ‘Arts in Studios Trail’ and traditional music sessions in Miltown Malbay and Kilrush. In all there were 40 free events throughout the county for 2016 Culture Night, including exhibitions, plays, film, concerts, readings and dance.
Arts and cultural bodies interested in participating in Culture Night 2017 should send their proposal to the Clare County Council Arts Office at clareculturenight@gmail.com by Wednesday 2 August. The Arts Office is seeking to expand the number of family friendly events featured on this year’s Culture Night programme.
