Blue Flag Beaches

County Clare's beaches awarded a record nine Blue Flags.

The award represents high standards in water quality, environment information and education, environmental management and safety services and facilities. To gain a Blue flag, beaches have to meet twenty three imperative and four guideline beach criteria. Marinas must meet nineteen imperative and four guideline criteria.

  • Fanore
  • Kilkee
  • Cappa beach (Kilrush)
  • White Strand (near Doonbeg)
  • White Strand (near Miltown Malbay)
  • Spanish Point
  • Ballycuggeran (freshwater bathing area on Lough Derg near Killaloe)
  • Mountshannon (freshwater bathing area on Lough Derg)
