Funding and opportunities

The Arts Office of Clare County Council supports arts events, programmes and artists in a variety of ways annually. Support is available for the arts, as defined in the Arts Act 2003.

Any creative or interpretive expression (whether traditional or contemporary) in whatever form, and including, in particular, visual arts,theatre, literature, music, dance, opera, film, circus and architecture and includes any medium when used for those purposes.

The following are the arts grants and bursary programmes supported by Clare Arts Office in 2017.

Arts Act Grants 2017

Assistance shall be given to arts activities which when held would stimulate public interest in the arts, provide knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts or improve the standard of the arts in Clare. There are 3 categories of support:

  1. Artist Support – Support for individual artists / artists projects
  2. Organisational Support / Events & Projects Assistance – Support for arts organisations general activities and for once off or key events in the county
  3. Traditional Arts – Support specifically relating to the traditional arts e.g. music & dance

The date for receipt of completed applications is February 17th, 2017.

 

Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Scheme 2017

The bursary for the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan allows an artist of any discipline the opportunity to stay at the internationally renowned centre for up to two weeks, all expenses paid. Each artist is allocated their own studio in this spectacular setting of woodland and lakes. Interaction with the other resident artists is encouraged and a group dinner takes place each evening. This bursary is open to all professional artists in the county.

Meitheal Summer School Bursary 2017

The bursary for the Meitheal Summer School which takes place in Limerick in July enables a young Clare traditional musician to attend the school free of charge and covers all tuition fees and accommodation costs. This bursary is open to all young musicians in the county, under the age of 22 who are accepted by Meitheal to participate in the summer school.

Irish Youth Choir Bursary 2017

The bursary for the Irish Youth Choir will enable one young Clare singer between the ages of 18 and 28 to attend the residential summer school in Limerick in June free of charge and covers all tuition fees and accommodation costs. This bursary is open to all singers who are accepted by the Irish Youth Choir through their open audition programme. See www.aoic.ie/iyc/ for audition details.

Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary 2017

One bursary for the Drama League of Ireland Summer School which takes place in the University of Limerick enables someone to attend the school free of charge and covers all tuition fees and accommodation costs. This bursary is open to anyone involved in drama in the county.

National Youth Council of Ireland Summer School Bursary

One youthworker from Clare will be supported to attend the NYCI Summer School 2017– Conquer Your Fear: Creative Digital Technology and Youth Work!

Taking place in Wicklow from May 30th - June 1st, the summer school is aimed at youth workers, volunteers and youth arts practitioners looking for new skills for delivering creative activities using new technologies – and the confidence to use them.
