Upgrade and extension of public toilets in Lahinch commences

Clare County Council has signed a contract with O’Brien Builders & Civil Engineering Contractors Ltd. for the delivery of an upgrade and extension to the existing public toilets in the seaside town of Lahinch.  

The project includes for the delivery of female, male and disabled access toilets, baby/parent room, storage room and a disability access ramp.

The toilet facilities are scheduled open in May 2019.

Mayor of Clare, Councillor Michael Begley has welcomed the commencement of work on the toilet facilities, adding, “The existing public amenity facilities provided at Lahinch Seaworld are no longer fit for purpose and need to be upgraded in order to provide modern sustainable and accessible facilities that can cater for additional capacity using an improved layout at this busy seaside resort along the Wild Atlantic Way.”

Pat Dowling, Chief Executive of Clare County Council, commented, “Continued investment in Clare’s popular seaside towns and villages is important to ensure that the local communities and visitors to these areas can access modern, fit-for-purpose facilities.”

Carmel Kirby, Director of Physical Development, added, “The commencement of construction work on the public toilets in Lahinch follows the recent delivery of a newly refurbished and extended toilet block and the upgrade of the lifeguard station at Spanish Point. Clare County Council is also planning improvements to the public facilities in Kilkee.”
