Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme

The Mobility Aids Grant Scheme is available to fast track grant aid to cover a basic suite of works to address mobility problems, primarily, but not exclusively, associated with ageing.

Is it means tested?

Yes. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of household means. The maximum grant of  €6,000 will be available to applicants with gross household incomes of up to €30,000 per annum and may cover 100% of the cost of works.

What type of work is covered?

The types of works allowable under the scheme can be varied and can include the following:

  • Grab-rails
  • Access ramps
  • Level access showers
  • Stair lifts
  • Other minor works deemed necessary to facilitate the mobility needs of a member of a household

Tax requirements

In the case of contractors, the contractor’s name, address, tax reference number and tax district and the number and expiry date of a certificate of authorisation issued to the contractor by the Revenue Commissioners must be submitted.

Who can apply?

People who require basic adaptation works in order to address their mobility needs.
