The following table shows the number of calls received by Clare County Fire and Rescue Service each year since 2013:

Training

Firefighters are called to a multitude of different incidents from a chimney fire to an aircraft emergency. In order that they are able to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities, comprehensive training takes place.

The following is a list of the various training courses

  • Each new recruit completes an "Initial Recruit Course" (3 weeks) and "A Breathing Apparatus Wearer's Course" (2 weeks)
  • 2 hour weekly drill training at each station - A programme is set out each year to ensure that all the basic procedures are covered. This training is carried out by the station officer who is supervised/helped by the senior assistant chief fire officer (operational)
  • Junior and senior officers attend fire service council courses throughout the year - these are detailed courses covering topics such as training for command and control of specific incidents such as:
    • Road traffic accidents
    • Aircraft incidents
    • Chemical incidents
    • Ship fires, etc.
  • Training is also carried out by all fire-fighters covering:
    • Breathing apparatus refresher training
    • Line rescue training
    • Manual handling
    • First aid, etc.
  • Training is ongoing with new techniques being imported into current practices regularly. The following courses have been organised by Clare County Fire and Rescue Service in recent years:
