Description:
glór is delighted to present a mixed media exhibition featuring the work of both established and emerging artists. glór launched its open call exhibition asking artists nationally to respond to the theme of Halcyon Days. Work selected includes print, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and textiles as well as painting and showcases the diverse range of work being made both locally and nationally. The Halcyon is a bird of Greek legend and the name is now commonly given to the European Kingfisher. The ancients believed that the bird made a floating nest in the Aegean Sea and had the power to calm the waves. Our current use of 'halcyon days' tends to be nostalgic and recalling of the seemingly endless sunny days of youth.
