Description & Character

Ballymacraven is a small settlement on the R481 between Ennistymon and Kilfenora. The surrounding area is classed as open countryside. The settlement consists of 3.6 Ha's and is bounded to the West by the R481 Road ,and by The Ballymacraven River to the south. Planning Considerations

It is the intention to convert Ballymacravan from a temporary settlement for the accommodation of 6 families of the Travelling community, to a designated permanent settlement in terms of the North Clare Local Area Plan 2005 as amended. The site is located in the open Countryside and in an area of Extreme/ High groundwater vulnerability. There is an established high standard wastewater treatment system on the site to prevent ground water contamination, and vehicular access is obtained from the R481. Clare County Council is the responsible service provider in terms of the remit of the adopted Traveller Accommodation Programme 2005-2008.

To make provision for the permanent Traveller accommodation for six indigenous Traveller families. The policies and objectives of the Clare Traveller Accommodation Programme 2005 - 2008 will apply to this settlement.
